Civil Service warns against con men

RIYADH — The Ministry of Civil Service has said it does not contact job applicants, male or female, directly or through SMS messages from mobile phones. Hamad Ibrahim Al-Muneef, the ministry’s official spokesman, made the clarification after receiving complaints from job applicants that people claiming to represent the ministry called them and asked for personal information and, in some cases, money. Al-Muneef said the ministry communicates with applicants by running job vacancy ads in newspapers, through its website and via SMS from its official account. The ministry warned against divulging information to such con men. It said Riyadh Police have made at least one arrest in connection with the scam.
