‘Why do moderates in Muslim world remain silent?’ (Oct. 3)

What does the term “moderate Muslim” mean?  The real moderate Muslim or generally speaking the real Muslim is one who follows the Holy Qur’an and the teachings and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).  You cannot cheat Muslims by using words such as “moderate”.  Islam is by itself moderate, i.e., it does not accept extremism. It has rules and regulations for human beings to accept and follow in order to be successful in this world and in the Hereafter.

Ahmed Hassen

Scholars who politicize their faith and knowledge for worldly gain and lead the Ummah toward falsehood must be avoided. The only way is the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah.

Sameer Khan

Those who compromise on the fundamentals of Islam are termed “moderate Muslims”. But what do you want to compromise on? Is it the way we pray, what to eat and what not to eat, what to wear and what not to wear, where to live and where not to live, what to study and what not to study, whom to rule and whom not to rule, etc.? Do you think moderates have answers or solutions to the questions and problems of our communities?

Salim Akhtar
